2012 has been a momentous year for Venn-represented artist Kate McMillan.

McMillan returned from her 2011 six-month Artsource residency in Basel, Switzerland, to present the culmination of her time away in a solo exhibition, Paradise Falls, at Venn Gallery in June.

In addition to taking out the Overall Acquisitive Award at the Joondalup Invitation Art Awards in October, McMillan’s photographic and collage work Holes was acquired by the Murdoch University Art Collection earlier this year.

This month McMillan will relocate to London where she will focus on her PhD at Curtin University over the next twelve months. McMillan is also the recepient of the Australia Council Studio in London, a residency at the renowned ACME studios and will undertake this from February and May 2014.

Also coming up for the artist in 2014 is an exciting collaboration with MONA and Performance Space. McMillan has received the significant Creative Development Fellowship from the Department of the Culture and the Arts to support the development of this major new work.

Venn Gallery will present a selection of new works by Kate McMillan in March 2013.
