PATRICK DOHERTY IN GROUP SHOW AT STRANGE NEIGHBOUR

Patrick Doherty is featured in a group exhibition The Dreamer is Still Asleep, which opens this evening at Strange Neighbour in Melbourne’s creative hub, Fitzroy.

This curated show includes works by a selection of Australian artists who, across a diversity of media, explore the esoteric, unseen or occult. The artists include, Benjamin Armstrong, Sean Baily, Naomi Bishop, as well as New Zealand artist Ben Cauchi.

Featured in the exhibition is Doherty’s recent large-scale canvas work The booboisie bavardage 2014, which was produced for his solo exhibition at Venn Gallery held earlier this year, Confessions to God, but not mine. True to his raw and confronting drawing style and composition, this work offers some of the artist’s dark observations of spiritualism and religious ritual.
